MySQL 4.0 Downloads
The software from MySQL AB listed below is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and is provided "as is" and is without any warranty.
You need to purchase commercial non-GPL MySQL licenses:
- If you distribute MySQL Software with your non open source software,
- If you want warranty from MySQL AB for the MySQL software,
- If you want to support MySQL development.

This is the current gamma release of the MySQL database server.

The complete list of changes can be found here. You can find how to upgrade from MySQL 3.23 here.The Standard binaries are recommended for most users, and includes the InnoDB storage engine. The Max version includes additional features such as the Berkeley DB storage engine and other features that have not been exhaustively tested or are not required for general usage, such as OpenSSL support, user-defined functions (UDFs), and BIG_TABLE support. When these features have matured and proven to be stable, they will be incorporated into future releases of the Standard binaries. The Debug binaries have been compiled with extra debug information, and are not intended for production use, because the included debugging code may cause reduced performance.

Source downloads
Compiler Advisory: Several users have reported random crashes and table corruptions when using MySQL binaries compiled with gcc 2.96 on the x86 Linux platform. We suggest that you use gcc 2.95 or gcc 2.91 to compile your own binaries. It should also be safe to use gcc 3.2.
For maximum stability and performance, we recommend that you use the binaries we provide.
